Earlier this week, Bob Jackson, PSAC Regional Executive VP for BC, was joined by our National President Robyn Benson and Irene Lanzinger, President of the BC Federation of Labour, on a telephone town hall with PSAC members in BC to discuss the federal election.
We have summarized some of the questions from PSAC members and the answers from Bob, Robyn, and Irene for members that may have been unable to take part.
A message from Bob Jackson
Sisters and Brothers,
This October, we have an opportunity to make Canada a better place. We can elect a government that respects our collective agreements and our right to a healthy and safe workplace.
We can elect a government that will bargain in good faith. One that respects the collective bargaining process, and respects public services and the workers that deliver them.
Kamloops – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, including federal government workers from Service Canada, Corrections Canada, RCMP civilian staff, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and Environment Canada are gathering in Riverside Park to meet with candidates in the upcoming federal election to hear from them about their party’s plan for federal public services.
VICTORIA – A group of Canadian veterans and advocates will gather in Victoria on August 25th, to demand that federal election candidates re-open Veterans Affairs offices and restore funding to important veterans’ services.
Veterans say they feel abandoned by the Conservative government since it closed nine Veterans Affairs offices across Canada in 2013 and 2014. This spring, the Public Service Alliance of Canada released a series of video testimonials documenting the impact of the office closures on the lives of veterans with complex medical needs.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada is today launching a nationwide campaign to remind Canadians about the impact of cuts to public services before they vote in the federal election.
At the 2015 PSAC national convention, delegates directed the union to campaign and raise public awareness about the impact of cuts to public services by the Harper Conservatives.

This year it will be held from June 19 to 21, 2015. The School website is http://conference.bcfed.ca/jubilee/ check it out for more specific info.
