Media Advisory: On June 8, the Public Service Alliance of Canada will be mobilizing its members who work with Treasury Board, including at Parks Canada, the Canadian Border Service Agency, Canada Revenue Agency and the Canadian Food Inspection to demand a quick and fair resolution to contract negotiations with their employers and to support their bargaining teams.

Where: Various cities and regions across Canada, including Vancouver, Victoria and cities throughout British Columbia.

Approximately 30 workers at Victoria International Airport have a new collective agreement.

Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) / Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 20209 working at the airport voted Friday to ratify a tentative agreement reached last week.

Highlights of the four-year contract, which expires in March 2020, include fair wage increases, an increase in standby pay and meal allowances, improvements to the benefits package, and the inclusion of the firefighters group in the contract language around shift premiums.

VANCOUVER, March 21, 2016 /CNW/ - The Public Service Alliance of Canada BC Region is calling on Finance Minister Bill Morneau to create real change by reinvesting in the federal public service for the immediate benefit of British Columbians.

"We urgently need to see a new approach from this government. The Liberal election platform promised to improve the quality of public services, including reducing wait times and increasing access to in-person services. Hunter Tootoo, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, officially announced today that the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station in Vancouver would be re-opened.

“PSAC is happy to see the government listened to British Columbians and officially announced Kits Station’s reopening today,” said Bob Jackson, Public Service Alliance of Canada Regional Executive Vice-President for BC.

Victoria - The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee is sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Victoria on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is a day commemorated in Canada each December 6th, the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, in which armed student Marc Lépine murdered fourteen women and injured ten others in the name of "fighting feminism".
