PSAC is happy to announce that a new collective agreement has been ratified by the members of Local 22000, working at the First Nations Health Authority in British Columbia.
The new contract, which expires in March 2020, contains a wage increase of 5.5% over three years, improvements to bereavement leave, parental leave, and overtime provisions as well as clearer language around harassment and discrimination and an amendment to health and safety provisions that promotes psychological safety in the workplace.
The agreement also includes a letter of commitment from the employer providing for the creation of a new Indigenous Working Group, which gives Indigenous members of the bargaining unit direct input into the agenda and discussions held at joint consultation meetings with the employer. The Union Management Consultation Committee will be expanded to include additional Indigenous workers to pursue these discussions.
The FNHA bargaining team, comprised of Heidi Campbell, Grace MacIver, Brenda Isaac and Erna Post, would like to thank all the members working at First Nations Health Authority for their support during this round of bargaining. The team will be meeting with the employer in the near future to sign the agreement, at which time the new provisions will take effect.
