Season's Greetings from PSAC BC!

Season's greetings Sisters and Brothers,

Looking back at 2016 I want to thank and acknowledge all the PSAC members across the province who make our communities and our union better.

Thank you all.

Whether it is by helping to keep our environment, our food, our cities and towns, and our borders safe and secure; by administering and delivering a multitude of valuable social programs and services; by running our airports and our transportation systems; or by collecting the taxes that pay for all these services, just to name a few, PSAC members work day in and day out, helping make Canada the great country that it is.

PSAC is a community, made possible by all the members who have worked on behalf of our union: as a Shop Steward or Health and Safety Representative, by serving on a Local Executive or a member of one of our many Committees, by volunteering on one of our campaigns, by taking action in the workplace in support of our bargaining teams, and in many other ways.

The victories we’ve won over the past year: new collective agreements; the repeal of Harper-era anti-worker legislation; the re-opening of Kitsilano Station and Veterans Affairs Offices; the lifting of the term freeze in several federal departments; a pay equity settlement at Statistics Canada, and more, would not have been possible without you.

When we work together we win.

Looking forward to 2017 we will continue to work together on some of the challenges that we still face – namely our ongoing bargaining with employers both large and small and Phoenix – and I know we will continue to win.

As is our holiday tradition, PSAC BC has made a donation to Protein for People – a non-profit society started by unions and the United Way who donate tens of thousands of cans of BC salmon to food banks throughout the province every year. We are proud to support this very worthy cause.

On behalf of all the staff in the PSAC BC Region, I wish you and your family all the best in this holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Happy Holidays!

In Solidarity,

Bob Jackson, Regional Executive VP, Public Service Alliance of Canada, BC Region
