Political Action

Our union, along with concerned Canadians in communities across the country, has been working hard to save public services and protect jobs. We are all affected by cuts to services, and we must all take action to defend the public services PSAC members provide to Canadians.

This section contains news and information about PSAC's political action program in British Columbia. Visit the national website for background and more information on our campaigns.

Friends, Sisters, Brothers, Local Presidents and Executive members, I encourage you to consider affiliating your Local to the District Labour Council (DLC) in your area. Joining a DLC provides a valuable opportunity for PSAC members to gather with fellow union members to exchange information, extend mutual support, and represent the interests of working people in your community.

While Parliament is in recess over the summer, members of CIU’s National Board of Directors across the country are taking lobbying training and bringing our message to Members of Parliament. "Robyn, when I say Phoenix to you, what's the first thing that comes to mind?" "Debacle! Debacle comes to mind." We sat down with Robyn Benson, the Public Service Alliance of Canada's National President, for a frank discussion about PSAC's response to the Phoenix debacle. Here's the video.

PSAC BC welcomes the agreement reached this week by the leaders of the BC NDP and BC Green Party to form a new, progressive, provincial government. Both parties made strong commitments to addressing inequality, strengthening public services, taking action on climate, and implementing electoral and campaign finance reform. We also congratulate two new members of the BC Legislature who come from the PSAC family. Bowinn Ma, a PSAC member who works as a Project Engineer at Vancouver International Airport, was elected as the BC NDP MLA in North Vancouver-Lonsdale.
