Despite the pandemic, the life of our Locals has continued. Presidents have retired, treasurers have left their positions after accepting employment with another employer, new shop stewards have taken over; in short, many members have taken on new responsibilities.
How can the PSAC support these new leaders so that they can effectively represent their members?
This virtual training provides Local Officers the essential knowledge and skills for upholding their Local responsibilities and building a strong union.
Participants learn:
- How an effective Local functions;
- Roles and responsibilities of the Local Executive;
- How Executives can work well as a team, engage members;
- Deal effectively with management;
- Definition and use of consensus for decision making, and
- To define consultation in terms of how the process can deal effectively with key issues between the parties.
PLEASE NOTE! You must commit to completing all seven (7) modules.
This virtual training will be offered using the Zoom platform. We recommend having access to a computer with a camera and reliable internet connection to make the education experience more interactive and enjoyable.
Loss of salary will be provided if required, in accordance with provisions in your collective agreement.
