Registration is now open for the 2025 BC Federation of Labour Young Workers Leadership Retreat, taking place September 8 to 10 at Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre (approximately one hour east of Downtown Vancouver).
Young Workers from all Affiliate unions, including PSAC BC, are invited to join the BCFED at this popular event. If you’re a Young Worker interested in taking on a leadership position in the labour movement, this is your chance to develop the skills that will help you on your journey.
You’ll be one of just 50 young workers delving into your own styles of leadership and identifying areas for growth. You’ll complete trainings like:
- the acclaimed Be More Than A Bystander training
- Organizing 101 – Workers Unite!
- Organizing 102 – All Power to the People
- Listen Up! Public speaking, moving the motions, and crafting the chants
- Why Unions Should Care About Politics and How We Get Involved
Spots are limited, and seats are filling up fast! Learn more about the retreat at ywlr2025.bcfed.ca. The registration fee for the retreat is $500. The registration fee covers ground transportation from Vancouver to the event and return via chartered bus, accommodations and all meals.
PSAC FUNDING AVAILBLE FOR SUPPORT YOUNG WORKER ATTENDANCE AT THE RETREAT
The PSAC BC Regional Council is offering two (2) funded Young Workers seats for this event, covering the $500 retreat registration fee, transportation to/from Vancouver in accordance with the PSAC Travel Policy, and Leave With Pay coverage/loss of salary reimbursement as required.
PSAC BC Young Workers in good standing may apply for one of the funded seats using the application form below. The deadline to apply is Thursday, August 21 at 12:00 PM (noon) Pacific Time Zone.
Successful applicants are required to submit a written report to the REVP’s office within 30 days of attending the Retreat. Reports can be submitted via email to REVP-BC@psac-afpc.com.
