From the BRUSH Committee: Heat awareness for your workplace

As temperatures rise across the province, it’s essential to stay informed about the risks associated with working in hot conditions. The BC Region Union Safety and Health (BRUSH) Committee is committed to promoting safe and healthy workplaces for all members. With the summer months upon us, we’re highlighting important resources to help raise awareness and prevent heat-related illnesses on the job.

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has developed some informative and easy-to-share heat safety posters. These posters provide practical tips on how to recognize symptoms of heat stress, prevent heat-related illnesses, and stay safe when working in hot environments.

We encourage Locals/Branches, workplace Health & Safety Committees, and members across the Region to download and share these posters or post them on your union board:

Heat stress is a serious concern, especially for workers in outdoor or non-climate-controlled environments. Recognizing the signs early and taking preventative action can protect not just your health, but the safety of your entire worksite. For more information on working safely in hot environments, we encourage you to visit the CCOHS website.

Let’s work together to ensure all members stay safe, healthy, and informed during the hot summer months.

In solidarity,
PSAC BRUSH Committee
