2024 PSAC BC 2SLGBTQIA+ Summit

From May 3-5, PSAC BC members attended the first ever regional 2SLGBTQIA+ Summit in Burnaby. Delegates gathered to talk about creating positive spaces for queer folks and building solidarity within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and with allies and accomplices in the labour movement. Under the theme “Queer Solidarity in the Face of Adversity” delegates strategized on building, encouraging, and showing solidarity across the PSAC BC 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

We were fortunate to have BC Federation of Labour President Sussanne Skidmore attend as the keynote speaker as the Summit. Sussanne addressed the group on Friday and spoke about the need to be political and to elect members who look like us and think like us at every level of government.

REVP Jamey Mills also spoke at the Summit on the Friday. Jamey noted that PSAC has always been- and will always be – at the forefront of the fight for workers’ rights, equality and social justice. Jamey stressed that “[i]n the face of adversity, there is an unbreakable solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We will not stand down; we will not give in. We are in this with you.”
