It’s official: there are less than 300 days to go until the 10th PSAC BC Region Triennial Convention!
The 2026 PSAC BC Regional Triennial Convention will be held at the Victoria Conference Centre in Victoria, BC on May 22-24. In advance of the official convention call, we want to make sure all PSAC BC Branches/Locals, Directly Chartered Locals, National Officers, Area Councils and Regional Committees have some key dates and information so they can plan ahead:
- BC Regional Convention Dates – May 22, 23, and 24, 2026
- Deadline for Delegate Names – January 22, 2026 at 4 PM Pacific
- Resolutions Deadline – February 20, 2026 at 4 PM Pacific (note that resolutions must be limited to 150 words)
- Official Convention Call released and delegate allocations confirmed – November 2025
Branches/Locals and DCLs
We encourage all Branches/Locals and Directly Chartered Locals (DCLs) to start planning to hold elections for delegates according to the applicable Branch or Local bylaws.
The formula to be used for delegate entitlement is as follows: each Branch/Local or Directly Chartered Local (DCL) will be eligible for one (1) delegate for the first one (1) to two hundred and fifteen (215) membesr and one (1) additional delegate for each additional two hundred and fifteen (215) member or faction thereof (not including RANDs). This will be based on the best month of the last twelve (12) months, using membership numbers supplied by the staff in the Membership Section in Ottawa.
Travel and Accommodation
All travel and accommodation for delegates will be booked by PSAC BC. It is critically important that all delegates names be provided to the REVP Office no later than 4 PM Pacific on January 22, 2026.
Travel and accommodation will be booked in accordance with the PSAC Travel Policy and all delegates will be entitled to stay in residence at the official PSAC BC Convention hotels should they wish.
Area Councils and Regional Committees
Area Councils and Regional Committees which meet the following criteria will be eligible to send delegates to the 2026 PSAC BC Regional Convention:
- Meeting a minimum of four (4) times per year, and having at least four (4) meetings take place in 2025 where quorum was achieved by November 21, 2025;
- Minutes of all Regional Committee or Area Council meetings forwarded to the REVP Office within thirty (30) days of each meeting;
- Annual budget and financial statements prepared and submitted to the REVP for approval by the established deadline;
- Area Council or Regional Committee engages in regular communications regarding their meetings and activities, informing and inviting members to join their events;
Delegates shall be allocated as follows to Regional Committees and Area Councils which meet the criteria above:
- Each active Area Council shall be entitled to elect one (1) delegate;
- Each active Regional Women’s Committee shall be entitled to elect one (1) delegate;
- Each active Regional Human Rights shall be entitled to elect one (1) delegate;
- Two (2) elected regional National Indigenous Peoples’ Circle representatives shall be delegates;
- Each active Regional Young Workers Committee shall be entitled to elect (1) delegate.
Area Councils and Regional Committees should begin to start planning to hold elections for delegates in accordance with Regulation 1 of the PSAC BC Regional By-Laws. Delegate Election Meetings may begin as of Monday, September 22, 2025. The deadline to submit delegate names to the REVP Office is 4 PM Pacific on January 22, 2026. Area Councils and Regional Committees are encouraged to elect a Delegate and Alternate Delegate(s) at their respective Delegate Election Meetings. Sufficient written notice of said meetings must be given in accordance with Regulation 1 of the PSAC BC Regional By-Laws.
National Officers
Component National Officers shall be delegates in the Region in which they live or work. Members of the NBoD and full time Component Vice-Presidents shall be entitled to delegate status in the caucus in which they have elected to participate.
Observers
A limited amount of observer seats will be available space permitting. PSAC BC is not responsible for any costs incurred by observers. All expenses (travel, accommodation, loss of salary reimbursement, etc.) will be the responsibility of the observer. PSAC Regional Committees and Area Councils are reminded that they cannot spend funds on observers.
