About Kelly Megyesi
Kelly Megyesi (she/her) is one of two PSAC BC Southern Interior Coordinators and has been involved with the union for more than three decades. Kelly has served members in several leadership roles including PSAC BC Women’s Coordinator, CEIU Local 20972 President, Okanagan Area Council Treasurer, BC/YT alternate for CEIU National Women’s and Human Rights/Race Relations Committees, and more.
In 2021, Kelly’s dedication to union activism was honoured when she received the Union Warrior Award for her commitment to tackle tough challenges in the workplace without hesitation. In her 2026-2029 term as Southern Interior Coordinator, Kelly plans to build on her last term, focusing on mobilization, political action, engagement, training/education, and connecting with union members. She is committed to bringing energy to the position and since being re-elected has already met with the PSAC BC Associate Director, attended a site visit with the PSAC BC REVP, provided feedback on the recent convention, prepared a proposal for regional council committees and sent out contacts to those attending convention. She is off and running and totally committed to giving it her best.
Kelly first became involved with PSAC BC Regional Council when she was elected Women’s Coordinator and has been the Southern Interior Coordinator for the last two terms. Since then, Kelly has been working diligently to bring a strong voice to union activism and ensuring members are supported and heard.
In 2012, under the Harper government, Kelly was workforce adjusted (WFA) losing her job. She opted for the WFA package that allowed her to take an education leave and become a priority. (Thank you to union for this negotiated benefit.) She successfully returned in 2015 and her union activism continued.
In her spare time, Kelly enjoys singing, painting, volunteering in her community, and making the most of life.
“The union has always been part of who I am, and my activism is a choice that has become an important part of my life. I value that we are a social justice union, and I believe in inclusion, welcome, respect, and kindness.”
