IMP Comox Bargaining Update: Tentative Agreement Reached

The bargaining team met with the employer in July to negotiate a new collective agreement. After many rounds of going to arbitration, the bargaining team has successfully negotiated a tentative agreement to renew the contract for members of UNDE Local 21018, working at IMP Comox.

Within the tentative four-year agreement, the team has secured significant wage gains for all union members. Substantial gains were also made on the LMAs along with language improvement regarding vacation leave for members hired after July 1, 2026. The deal contains no concessions. If ratified, the agreement will be effective retroactively to July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2030. Full details of the tentative agreement have been sent out to all Local members. Members are encouraged to contact their bargaining team if they have questions or would like more information.

A ratification vote will take place on August 12. Vote details will be provided to all members of the bargaining unit once confirmed.

The bargaining team pushed hard for these gains while taking into account whether arbitration might be a better path. After careful consideration, the team believes this tentative agreement represents the best deal that can be achieved during this round of bargaining and therefore unanimously recommends its acceptance.

Approximately 40 PSAC-UNDE members of Local 21018 work for IMP Group at CFB Comox, maintaining the life-saving fleet of Cormorant search and rescue helicopters to ensure they are mission-ready. The current collective agreement expired June 30, 2026.
