The Vancouver (YVR) airport union bargaining team met with YVR management the week of October 5 to 9.
Prior to these face-to-face meetings, the bargaining team met twice in September to review over 175 bargaining proposals that UCTE Local 20221 members submitted. From that input, the team assembled a series of proposals that were presented to management during the October bargaining sessions.
The bargaining team covered a wide range of topics during this first session. They emphasized to the employer that critical member priorities include privatization, job security, and affordability.
Member priorities are non-negotiable. The recent headlines only underscored what the bargaining team had to say at the table last week.
Overall, bargaining has just begun and there is much more work to do. The next set of bargaining dates will be the week of November 2-6.
