PSAC BC, on behalf of members of Local 22005 working at Rising Sun in Surrey, has served notice to bargain with Rising Sun Community Residential Treatment Facilities. The bargaining team met on January 26 to discuss and prioritize bargaining input provided by the membership and prepare to meet with the employer.
“We are thrilled to kick off negotiations towards a historic first collective agreement with this employer.” said Jamey Mills, PSAC regional executive vice-president “PSAC BC looks forward to working with the bargaining team and all our new members at Phoenix Society. Your support and solidarity will be crucial as we work together towards a new contract that provides fair wages and improves your working lives.”
Approximately 35 PSAC members work as residential support workers, licensed practical nurses, case workers, counsellors, health care aids and cleaners at Rising Sun, a federally funded Community Residential Facilities Program that provides transitional supportive housing for men moving to community living after experiencing federal incarceration.
