BCGEU and PEA Strike Action – Guidance for PSAC Members

As of Tuesday, September 2nd, the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) and the Professional Employees Association (PEA) have officially commenced strike action. Picket lines will be established starting at 7:00 AM, and up to 900 worksites may be affected. A virtual picket line will also be in place for members working remotely.

At this time, BCGEU and PEA are implementing a targeted strategy to apply maximum pressure, and specific picket locations are being kept confidential. Updates will be shared as more information is received.

What This Means for PSAC Members

PSAC members are not in a legal strike position and are expected to report to work as usual. However, if you arrive at a worksite where a picket line is present, do not cross the line. Instead, consider whether the situation may constitute unsafe work and immediately contact your supervisor and your union representative for guidance.

Showing Solidarity

If you are near a picket line we encourage you to show your support. Attending in solidarity, even briefly, sends a strong message of unity and strengthens the collective voice of workers across sectors.

Stay Informed

We will continue to share updates as they become available. In the meantime, please remain respectful of all picket lines and supportive of our union siblings in BCGEU and PEA as they fight for fair wages and working conditions.
