On Saturday, June 28, PSAC BC proudly hosted Activism and the Arts at the Cleland Theatre in Penticton. The event brought together activists and allies from across the BC Region, including REVP Jamey Mills, PSAC National President Sharon DeSousa and a few members of the PSAC BC Regional Council.
Headlining the stage was none other than internationally acclaimed spoken-word artist Shane Koyczan who moved, inspired, and ignited the audience. The event also featured the soulful sounds of Yanti and dynamic duo Joan & Janice Everyday.
As part of the event, the CIRCLE Committee held a raffle for handmade Pride quilt. Proceeds from the raffle went to the South Okanagan Similkameen Pride Society.

Art has always been a powerful tool in the labour movement. It helps us share our stories, build solidarity, and inspire action. This event was a vivid reminder that when we connect creativity with activism, we can amplify our collective voice in ways that resonate far beyond a single gathering.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the PSAC BC CIRCLE (Human Rights) Committee, whose vision and dedication sparked this idea and made it a reality. We also extend our appreciation to the many PSAC BC Regional Committees and Area Councils that collaborated to bring everything together, and to Union Savings for their generous funding support.
Together, we continue to strengthen our movement by celebrating the creativity, courage, and commitment of workers across the Region.
