About Damir Moric

Damir Moric (he/him) (il/lui) is one of three Metro Vancouver Coordinators and the Treasurer of the Vancouver District Area Council. For almost a decade, Damir has represented young workers, 2SLGBTQIA+ members, and Metro Vancouver area in leadership roles such as 2SLGBTQIA+ Coordinator on PSAC BC Regional Council, President and Vice-President of CEIU Local 20937, Chair and Vice-Chair of Mainland Haida Gwaii Young Workers Committee, Co-chair of Mainland Human Rights Committee, and Chair of CEIU BC/YT Regional Human Rights Committee.

Damir first became involved as a young worker when he was elected as the CEIU Local 20937 Young Workers Representative. He then joined the PSAC BC Mainland Haida Gwaii Young Workers Committee and later was elected as PSAC BC’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Coordinator, which he describes as a highlight of his activism that opened up his whole world. For example, prior to this role, Damir had never marched in Pride and the role helped him discover what Pride looks like all across British Columbia.

During his term as Metro Vancouver Coordinator, Damir will connect and collaborate within the area more than ever before. Inspired by the union activists around him, Damir aims to give back the energy he gets from union siblings at every level of the union structure and believes that building a strong, engaged network will cultivate the solidarity we need to overcome forthcoming challenges.

“Just like the first time I walked in Pride, the union has helped me find my voice and become the advocate that I have always wanted to be.”

In his spare time, Damir also enjoys video gaming, tabletop gaming, camping, and international travel.
