Planting in the Park with the Mainland & Haida Gwaii Young Workers Committee

Saturday, June 13

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Queen's Park - 3rd Ave, New Westminster, BC

The Mainland Haida-Gwaii Young Workers Committee (”MHGYWC”) is proud to announce that we are hosting Planting in the Park! All PSAC-BC Young Workers are invited to join us to hang out, eat food, build some seed starters, and learn about native plants and guerilla gardening!

Planting in the Park will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm PST at Queen’s Park located at 3rd Ave, New Westminster, BC. RSVP using the form below to let us know you’ll be there!

What is a seed starter?

Seed starters are ready-to-grow balls of soil, clay, and seeds. You can toss them into bare patches of dirt to grow wildflowers and native plants—no digging, watering, or green thumb needed!

What to bring

All materials will be provided for those who need them. However, to ensure we have enough to go around, we encourage you to bring your own:

  • picnic blanket (for a picnic blanket island!)
  • water bottle (for hydration!)
  • sunscreen and a hat (to beat the heat!)
  • gardening gloves or gloves of any kind (to stay clean, though a little dirt never hurt anyone!)
  • a gardening trowel or spoon (to mix and distribute soil)
  • egg cartons (to store and transport the seed starters)

Look forward to seeing you there!
