PSAC BC at Vancouver Pride!

Sunday, August 3

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

West End, Vancouver

PSAC BC will be marching alongside the BC Federation of Labour and Affiliates in the Vancouver Pride Parade, taking place Sunday, August 3 in the West End. Vancouver Pride is an opportunity to show the Labour movement’s commitment to 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and representation. With the recent rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ rhetoric, it’s more important than ever to show up, speak out, and stand proud AGAINST hate and FOR the dignity and human rights of all.

Interesting in joining us? PSAC BC has a limited number of marching spots available in the parade. Please reach out to PSACBC-HRC-Mainland@psac-afpc.com for more details and to secure your spot!

Here’s some key information for marchers taking part in the parade:

  • The staging areas is Parking Indigo Vancouver Lot 039 at Roger Arena South.
  • Marchers should arrive between 11:30 and 12 PM
  • Roads will be closed along the parade route as of 11 AM so marchers should NOT plan to be driving in the area after that time as they will likely be trapped in traffic. Public transit and/or bicycles are the best way to get there.
  • The official start of the parade is at 1 PM, but marchers are requested to be there no later than 1 hour prior to the start time.
  • The parade route is 2KM long and follows the route along Pacific Avenue.

Some additional reminders:

  • Wear sun protection β€” sunscreen, protective clothing, hats, sunglasses
  • Leave four-legged friends at home β€” the asphalt can burn their toe beans!
  • Bring water bottles β€” hydration is key to a good time
  • Unfortunately, this year there is not any accessible seating available in the marching group.
  • We will be waiting prior to the beginning of the parade for up to 1 hour – be prepared with snacks, water, and entertainment

We look forward to seeing you!
