Join the fight against airport privatization

PSAC BC is mobilizing with UCTE in opposition of the potential privatization of Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Will you join us?

YVR is one of Canada’s most important airports. It connects BC communities and businesses to the world, supports tens of thousands of jobs, and plays a critical role in our regional and national economy.

Currently, YVR operates under a not-for-profit airport authority model, with revenues reinvested into airport infrastructure, operations, and services. A shift toward greater private, for-profit ownership could have significant consequences for airport workers, travellers, and the communities the airport serves. It could also put additional pressure on airport fees and working conditions while raising concerns about public accountability and the long-term interests of the travelling public.

Airport workers and the communities that depend on YVR deserve a say in its future.

On Saturday, October 31, PSAC and UCTE members, labour allies, and community supporters will gather outside YVR to make our voices heard and stand up for the future of Canada’s airports.

The rally will feature speakers from across the labour movement, including:

Sharon DeSousa, PSAC National President

Jamey Mills, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President, BC Region

Sussanne Skidmore, BC Federation of Labour President

Barry Tchir, UCTE National President
