Victoria – The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee is sponsoring a candlelight vigil at Holland Park in Victoria on December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.
This year, December 6th marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of 14 women at the École Polytechnique in Montreal. The Public Service Alliance of Canada Victoria Regional Women’s Committee and the City of Victoria will unveil a permanent memorial to their memory.
Members of the public will reflect on violence against women, call upon the federal government to announce a national action plan to deal with all forms of violence against women, and collect donations for local women’s organizations.
