The Peoples Social Forum is an event taking place this summer, August 21-24 in Ottawa. It promises to be an unprecedented convergence of social movements, activists, and Union members from across Canada.
The Social Forum will be an opportunity to share experiences, to learn, and to strategize and build practical alliances and coalitions in the struggle against the Harper government’s agenda and the systemic injustice it upholds. Right now, more than ever, we need to come together as labour and social justice activists across this country to oppose the neoliberal agenda.
For more information, visit peoplessocialforum.org and see the letter from Robyn Benson, attached below.
PSAC BC is happy to make it possible for PSAC members from BC to attend. We are offering 8 bursaries of $1500 each in order to assist members to participate. Note: in order to maximize participation, this event is not fully funded by PSAC BC. We encourage our members to seek assistance from their Component or Local, take vacation time, or seek alternate accommodation arrangements in Ottawa in order to keep costs down.
If you are interested in attending the Peoples Social Forum and would like to apply for one of the bursaries, please use the application form here. The deadline for applications is July 16. We will inform members as to the status of their application by July 21.
Please share this information with anyone who might be interested, and if you have any questions let us know.
