PSAC ACCESS BC Summit: Call-out for Organizing Committee Volunteers

PSAC BC is seeking members of the ACCESS community to participate on the Organizing Committee for the 2027 PSAC ACCESS BC Summit.

The Summit will be held at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown in Burnaby on March 5-7th 2027. The Organizing Committee will work collaboratively to help shape the Summit’s agenda, activities and overall approach.

We are inviting PSAC BC ACCESS members who want to help plan and shape this event to apply for the Organizing Committee.

We are looking for applicants who:

  • Have self-identified as a PSAC Access (Person with Disabilities) member from the BC Region. If you haven’t done so in the past, you can self-identify online;
  • Are members in good standing (MIGS);
  • Have good communication and organizational skills;
  • Possess a willingness to commit to the Summit;
  • Have related experience. (Experience is helpful but not required.)

Members do not need to have previous organizing committee experience to apply. We welcome members with different experiences, perspectives and levels of involvement.

What does the Organizing Committee do?

Organizing Committee members help to:

  • Plan Summit themes, agenda, and priorities;
  • Ensure ACCESS perspectives, protocols, and union values are reflected;
  • Attend bi-weekly Zoom meetings during weeknight evenings (bi-weekly at first, then weekly closer to the event); and
  • Complete tasks between meetings with support from PSAC staff and fellow members; and
  • Attend the ACCESS BC Summit in person.

Organizing Committee members become automatic delegates to the Summit.

  4. Have you attended a previous PSAC ACCESS Summit, equity conference or similar event? If so, what did you find valuable about the experience?
  5. What skills, experiences or perspectives would you bring to the Organizing Committee?
  6. What topics, activities or issues would you like to see included in the 2027 PSAC ACCESS BC Summit?
