Request for Raffle Donations for the PSAC B.C. Regional Convention

To All PSAC BC Locals; Committees and PSAC Components/ DCLs

I am writing on behalf of the PSAC B.C. Regional Council Convention Committee. The Committee is organizing a raffle and silent auction at the PSAC B.C. 6th Regional Triennial Convention to raise money for a charitable organization within the community. To that end, we’re seeking your assistance with this endeavour. We’re calling for donations of baskets or items to be raffled off at Convention.

Our Convention Committee has selected Protein for People to receive the funds raised through the raffle and silent auction. Protein for People is a non-profit society started in 2006 by unions and the United Way that works in cooperation with food banks throughout BC. Protein for People helps food banks by donating fish and other proteinbased food for them to distribute to those in need. For more information, please visit http://www.proteinproject.ca/

There is a growing number of people who have either lost their jobs, been reduced to part time or work many low wage jobs and have been forced to turn to food banks to help feed their families. Helping Protein for People is an opportunity for the PSAC B.C. Region to help improve the lives of union brothers and sisters and our society at large.

If you are able to donate of a basket or item for the raffle, please email Virginia at vaillav@psac.com so that we have an idea of how many items will be included in the raffle. Donations sent in advance of Convention must be received by the REVP Office by Thursday, April 17 (302 –5238 Joyce Street, Vancouver, BC V5R 6C9). Donations can also be brought directly to Convention on the morning of Friday, April 25.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at vaillav@psac.com or via the REVP Office at 604-430-0191 (toll free at 1-866-811-7700).

In Solidarity, Virginia Vaillancourt, Chair of the PSAC B.C. Regional Council Convention Committee
