Tips for taking photos at membership events

PSAC members across the province are organizing bargaining solidarity, public outreach, and networking events which we often feature on our social media channels.

To help members and Locals show off this great work and inspire others to take action, good photographs really help.

Email your photos to BraggP@psac-afpc.com along with a brief description of who was there and what was happening.

Here are some tips …

  1. Use landscape mode. Turn your phone sideways and get a picture that is wide, not tall.
  2. Think about the light. When you’re outside try to make sure the sun is behind you, not behind your subject. If you’re inside, try to find somewhere with good lighting.
  3. Get close. Instead of using the zoom function on your phone, move closer to your subject so we can get great high-quality images.
  4. Send us the original files. If your phone asks, send the largest file possible. High-resolution photos look the best.
  5. Don’t be afraid to be pushy. Order people around to get group shot, ask people if they want to have their photo taken, give someone a flag or a placard.
  6. Take lots of photos. You can always sort them later and send us the best ones.
  7. And most of all – have fun! Most people like having their photo taken. Don’t be shy.
