Vancouver Regional Womens Committee Shoebox Project

To: BC Locals/Branches and regional committees

Warmest greetings from your Sisters on the Vancouver RWC!

We would like to invite all locals and committees to join us. Our committee has taken on an exciting year-long project called the Shoebox Project.

The project distributes gifts in the form of Shoeboxes to women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in communities. Each thoughtfully created and decorated Shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that can enhance self-esteem and reduce feelings of isolation for women in crisis.

Our committee has been knitting up a storm with pink hats. So far we have raised almost $1000.00 and we plan on raising more. We have a knitting bee planned for May 17 at the PSAC BC office and then we will get together again on November 15 to put the shoeboxes together (just in time for Christmas). We would love to have you join us.

While the shoeboxes will be donated in Vancouver we still wanted to invite all of those that would like to contribute a box to join us in solidarity. We are hoping to do more projects where we work together across the region and across committee lines. We are excited to see how many boxes we can put together. At the end we will report out to the region on the project.
