Earlier this month, security workers employed by the Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon Division (CVIY) organized to officially add two new worksites to the Bargaining Unit for PSAC DCL 20500, the Commissionaires Union of BC. We are excited to welcome CVIY Security Workers at Parkville’s Oceanside Health Centre and the Nanaimo Harbour Ferry Terminal to the Union. Last fall, the Local also welcomed members at the Canadian Forces Maritime Experimental and Test Ranges who voted in favour of formally unionizing their worksite.
Approximately 400 members of PSAC Local 20500 work as Commissionaires on Vancouver Island and in Whitehorse, providing high-quality security services to the federal government as well as the private sector.
